To name a jazz album after a pop song made famous by a “manufactured” band that’s no longer in existence, may seem like stretching the bounds of eclecticism to breaking point.
Long before Hear’Say recorded it, however, my son – who co-wrote and co-produced it – played me an early demo, and I liked the song. That’s the test I applied in choosing the material for this album – if the tune’s good, it should lend itself to a jazzy or bluesy treatment, even if you have to mess around with the chord sequence just a little. Hope you like the end result.
